Alan Darcy hanging with Legendary Bruce Swedien !
Hey Everybody,
I had the great opportunity to attend a "Q & A" with Bruce Swedien
last week at MorrisSound Recording Studio in Tampa.
The Event was sponsored by the
"Recording Academy",
(The folks who give out The Grammys every year).
Bruce is legendary and one of the most successful and
sought after producers/engineers in the Biz for the last 50 years!
He has worked with artists ranging from
Count Basie, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson ("Thriller",
"History"),
Mick Jagger, Jennifer Lopez & Paul McCartney.
It was wonderful getting to hear recordings he hand-picked
for us to listen to from his catalogue, and then listen as he
recounted all the great stories and
artistic info about the specific recording sessions.
Like Michael Jackson recording with the London Symphony
Orchestra or how Quincy Jones
composed the whole score and
title music to the film the "Wiz", only the
night before they were to record it with a Full Orchestra.
Quincy did it with out any instrument in the
room either, and not one note was wrong!
Wow!
He was really down-to-earth,
(can you tell by the pic? LOL) and fun.
Learned alot too!

I
have been on the road for 2 weeks now.. first L.A. and then NYC!
I had an awesome time tonight!
I got to meet and perform tonight with
BILLY JOEL's
SAX PLAYER,
RICHIE CANATTA ,
at Manhattan's very cool nightspot.. ....
"THE CUTTING ROOM"
Billy Joel and Richie are two of my biggest musical inspirations!
Richie's
sax playing is all over Billy's Discography... including the 1977 Breakthrough
smash -'The Stranger" album !!! He is one of the premier woodwind
players in the Industry.
Together with Billy and the rest of the band, Richie just set another record for
consecutive sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden....
Richie was really entertaining and made me feel so welcome on stage...
My sincere thanks to him, and all of you for your support as I follow my muse.
What a way to end this tour!

I've just returned from a great trip to NYC where I had lots of fun, some great
gigs and met some awesome people!

and the Mansfield Hotel's "M"- Bar.
The highlight of my bite of the Big Apple was my chance to perform twice at
"Jim Caruso's "Castparty" held at one of the worlds best known
jazz clubs, "Birdland"!!

I also got to
hear Gary Sinese (Forest Gump/CSI New York) play a mean bass at the Bowery
Ballroom with his own band, "The Lt. Dan Band." I got to meet and talk
with Gary, as well as Blues Guitarist Kemo Williams and his Super
Sax-playing wife, Carol Williams!
They and the rest of the band were GREAT! What a talented bunch!
The concert was a benefit for soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.
They were rockin'!

Somehow in between all this, Singer/Actress, Robin Haden and I invaded Brooklyn
by foot and had an awesome time at the Brooklyn Promenade! If you're up in NYC
and looking for something fun and FREE-take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge
and watch the sunset over the magnificent Manhattan skyline!
Robin Hayden and I begin our magical trek across the Brooklyn Bridge!
I want to thank Ken CroKen & Matt Sullivan from Park-Art Gallery for
their hospitality and friendship and a GREAT gig!
Thanks also to Lach and the Staff at Sidewalk Cafe and Jenny Neuman Of the
"M" bar and The Mansfield Hotel and also to Jim Caruso and the
